Since 1989, the focus of Kappa Alpha Theta's philanthropic work has been CASA, the Court Appointed Special Advocates program. The ladies of Eta Lambda organize two signature philanthropy events to raise money for CASA. A Dodgeball Tournament is held in the fall and Breakfast at your CASA is held once a quarter. We appreciate all of the support that we get from the Greek and non-Greek communities for our events and we love being able to reciprocate this support when it comes time for another sorority or fraternity's philanthropy event.
CASA
Kappa Alpha Theta's philanthropy is CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates. CASA was started by a Seattle judge. The mission of CASA is to speak for the best interests of abused or neglected children who are involved in juvenile courts. CASA volunteers are assigned by a judge and it is their job to speak up for the children in court in order to make a sound decision for the children's future. Since 1990, CASA has expanded its program significantly. Currently 900 CASA programs exist with 70,000 CASA volunteers. For more information on CASA visit their website at www.NationalCASA.org

Service
The ladies of Eta Lambda are passionate about helping CASA, but are also involved with other service projects and fundraising events throughout the Santa Clara Community. For her participation in community programs, each Theta receives "service points" for each activity she does. At the end of the quarter, a prize is given to the two Thetas who receive the most points. Many of our members are active in the Santa Clara Community Action Program (SCCAP) and have participated in Immersion trips and Arrupe Placement. Our members also annually form teams for the Santa Clara Relay for Life, which raises money for Cancer victims and research.
Dodgeball
Eta Lambda's main philanthropy event for CASA is our Dodgeball tournament. Members of both the Greek and non-Greek community are invited to form teams to participate in the tournament. Each team pays a registration fee that helps raise money for CASA. Each team also receives one or more Theta coaches to guide and cheer them on during their games. After the tournament, Eta Lambda hosts a lunch for all of the teams to nourish the appetites of the hard-working athletes.
Breakfast at your CASA
Breakfast at Your CASA is a smaller-scale fundraiser that the ladies of Eta Lambda hold every quarter to raise money for CASA, Theta's philanthropy. Eta Lambda provides menus, including your favorite Jamba Juice smoothies and Krispy Kreme Donuts, for students ahead of time with which they may select and purchase breakfast items from that will be delivered to their door by a lovely Theta during their specified delivery time slot. Breakfast at your CASA takes place every quarter on the Saturday before Dead Week (the week before finals). Each quarter, Breakfast at Your CASA helps us raise over $1,000 for CASA.
